So This May Cause Some Controversy.

But I don't care, gotta love that 1st Amendment, eh?

Concerning religion/sex.

In many religions, pre-marital sex is considered a sin, even lustful thoughts and masturbation is considered a sin. Why though? Because a divine entity sopke through (or to) some prophets?

"Lustful thoughts" and dreams, they happen, its natural. There is no denying nature, or trying to stop it. You can't help what you dream. Trying to stop that is like trying to stop the rain. Having urges, having curiosity, especially through puberty, it's not "the devil" (or whatever your religions equivalent is). It's called growing up, hormones, NATURE. You shouldn't have to ask for forgiveness over things that you can not control.

As far as sex, that's a bit of a different ball game. If you feel like you're ready before marriage, there is nothing wrong with that. Again, sex and sexual curiosity is NATURAL. However, people should be smart about it, get educated, make sure that BOTH of you are ready, and take all the proper means of protecting themselves from STDs and pregnancy.

And if you want to wait until marriage, that's fine too! You shouldn't have to feel pressured to do something just because "everyone else is doing it." They're not. If someone really loved you, and wanted to make  that commitment, they wouldn't force you.

I'm not here to bash anyone's beliefs. I just feel like teaching kids that the thoughts and things that happen while their body is changing is bad, will lead to some problems in the future. Puberty is a weird time for kids, and they should have things explained to them, correctly. They shouldn't feel ashamed of what happens naturally.

Military SOs...Silent Ranks?

This is something that has always rubbed me the wrong way. Military wives, girlfriends, etc. referring to themselves as "the silent ranks." It just doesn't make sense in my mind. You are obviously not silent, and you hold NO rank in the military.
Now, let's not mistake this for annoyance at "motto" SOs. I don't have a problem if you're motto. Wear all the Military stuff you want, trick your ride out, I'm a rep. for a company that makes military accessories for crying out loud! That is not the issue!
Its girls and women (I've never seen the men of women soldiers do this) who think being a wife (etc) is the "toughest job in the _______". Really? Are you over in the middle east with the potential of getting blown up? No. Did you sign the contract? No. Did you go through training? No.
Yes, having a man in the military is one of the hardest things to deal with. But being a wife of a soldier, Marine, etc, is not "the hardest job". Granted, I don't have kids to take care of, and I'm not alone. I am so thankful that Bryant has not been deployed yet, but I know that could change at any time! The Guard is a little different, since he doesn't get housing and all that, but he can still deploy if he's needed. And that's scary.
Now I know all of us ladies in the "military SO community" have different views on this. Personally, I don't consider myself a "silent rank" or "having the hardest job". When he's gone it's not fun, and I for SURE do not "wear his rank" to try and get people to respect me. That's just foolish. Granted if a wife's husband, who was a higher rank than Bryant, invited us for dinner, I would show them both respect, not due to rank, but because it's the right thing to do with elder & people who you are a guest of.
I would love to have a civil, and mature discussion with anyone who has an opposing viewpoint. I'm always up for a good debate.

What?: Things dog owners say.

There are just some things that dog owners say that grind my gears! Here are a few:

"Kennel Cough"-No, just no. Yes, dogs can catch Canine Cough (bordetella) at a boarding facility, however, they can catch it anywhere there is a dog who is infected. Which is why you should get your dog vaccinated, whether you board them for not.
"I can't afford to take my dog to the vet/get it's shots."- What? If you can't afford to take care of an animal, then don't get one. Dogs are like kids, they need to go to the doctor once a year for check ups and shots. And that's not counting if they get sick or something happens to them.
"I don't know why he's so crazy, I just can't train him."-No, it's not that you can't, it's that you won't. You won't take the time to do it, or fork out the money to do it. Each dog's personality is different, some breeds are harder to train then others. When I hear Lab owners say that, it takes every fiber of my being to not roll my eyes. Labs, Australian Shepherds & Border Collies are all easily trainable dogs, they are extremely smart and catch on quick. But it takes time. You can't expect them to learn everything in one day. Did you learn how to ride a bike in one day? Did you learn how to swim in one day? I didn't think so.
"He keeps messing everywhere!"-Usually this is more puppies. Did you bother to potty train it? It's not hard. Take him outside after you wake up, then every half hour before breakfast, then after breakfast, then every half hour before lunch, then after lunch, then every half hour before dinner, after dinner, and one last time before bed. They shouldn't be fed too soon before going to sleep either. And praise praise praise! Pick up "Dog training for dummies" or ask any trainer. It takes consistency and dedication, like I said before some dogs are harder to train than others. Dachshunds and Chihuahuas are some of the hardest dog's to potty train. Patience is key. They're babies and need to learn, just like human babies need to be potty trained. You think if you don't teach you kid how to use them toilet they're going to know how to use it?
"I don't want to get him fixed, it'll take away his manhood."-Once again...what? Dogs do not have a sense of "manhood" or "womanhood". And if you get them fixed early enough, they won't know they're missing anything. It can also help down the road by preventing some health problems (both in males and females), and plus you won't be adding to the population of unwanted animals.

Slut-Shaming & Blaming Rape Victims. What is the world coming to?

Slut-shaming. This term has gotten some attention over the internet the past few months. But what does it mean? Basically, it is "the idea of shaming and/or attacking a women or a girl for being sexual, having one or more sexual partners, acknowledging sexual feelings, and/or acting on sexual feelings." (Source). So, let me get this straight...in society, it's 100% acceptable for men to go around acting like a "slut", but if a women does it, oh no. Society still views women as innocent, stay in the kitchen, submit to every ridiculous whim of your husband. Sorry, this is 2012. There are women on the police force, in the fire department, and in the military dying for their country. But heaven forbid they even so much as think about sex.

There is also another...branch off of this. Rape victims. People saying how it's the women's fault that she got raped because she dressed to provocatively and was obviously "asking for it". Sorry, wrong again. It does not matter what a women is wearing. No one asks to get raped. Even if she is your girlfriend, fiance, or wife, shoot even if you're in the middle of having sex, the second she says "no" you're raping her. She doesn't even have to say no for it to be rape. Why do we focus on blaming the victim? I don't know. But I do know this is why a lot of rape cases go unreported. Because the girls are afraid they will be blamed, or they're afraid they won't be believed. Well why wouldn't someone believed that you were raped? Because of false rape charges. How do false rape charges happen? A common example:

And underage girl has sex with a guy over 18. Her parents find out and she doesn't want to get into trouble or have her parents think she's a bad kid, so she yells rape on him.

Because of claims like these, rape victims are afraid to come forward, afraid that they won't be taken seriously.

The photo below is from the Slut Walk. This girl was wearing that outfit when she was raped. She obviously asked for it right?

It's a shame that in this day and age, we are blaming the victims of crimes, and not the perpetrator. It truly and honestly disgusts me how someone can say, with a straight face, that the girl above, or any women, deserved to get raped.

Below are some photos I've found from year's past Slut Walks:

There are plenty more I could post, but you get the idea. For those interested, Slut Walk DC 2012 will be held August 11, 2012. Visit their facebook page here for more information.

"Selling out" Does it even exist anymore?

First, what exactly is "selling out" in the music industry? Selling out is "the compromising of integrity, morality, or principals in exchange for money or "success" (Source). Now I believe, back in the day when you had to be original to stand out in the industry, artists would sell out, to get money and fame. Now a days, I feel like that's not the case. Hear me out on this.

Two examples of bands I can think of off the top of my head, which I feel are great examples are Green Day, and Black Tide.

Anyone who is alive and listens to the radio knows at least 1 Green Day song, I can guarantee that. Back when their American Idiot album came out, a lot of people pointed fingers and said that they had sold out, since it was a different style and a different message aimed at a different audience. Let's analyze this. When they first started out, they made fun, goofy, not so serious, screw authority type music. Which for their age, and the audience they were aiming to was appropriate. Now the band is in their mid-30s, and have taken on a more mature sound. Let's face it, no one wants to hear a 30-some year old sing about bringing down authority, and smoking pot. As their main audience grew and matured, they grew and matured. And as you grow, your tastes change as well. Another thing a lot of people don't really thing about, is that in this age of music your label will make you change your style and sound so you can make them money.

Now for Black Tide. I just recently discovered these guys. They are amazing. They were signed when they were all about 14-16 When they were first signed to the label, they had an old school metal sound, to me they sounded a lot like Iron Maiden. They are all now in late teens and early 20's. The lead singer is my age, 19. Just by looking at pictures from back then and now you can see they have changed, also their sound has changed drastically. Again, people are pointing fingers and calling them sell outs. I don't know about you, but in that 3 year span, I'm pretty sure Gabriel and the rest of the bands tastes changed from the metal/rock they grew up with, to the more new school, post-hardcore sound they have now. They even have a few acoustic songs that are beautiful. "Into the Sky" is a real tear jerker. And also, again with the label. Now I don't know if they changed labels, I know bands sometimes do a lot, but I'm also sure the label had something to do with the new sound. Though I'm betting more on just a bunch of kids trying to find their niche.

To me, if you are a big fan of a band, and they change something about them, be it their clothing style, music style, whatever, if you are a true blue, ride or die fan, you will embrace the changes, unless it's really weird like...your favorite rock band goes polka or something. When you hear a band "only you" know about on the radio, don't throw a fit and say "ugh all the bands I like always go main stream!" Be happy they got their big break and have a chance to live the dream!

The bands. Then and now.

Ladies? Looking at the women in the mirror.

The mirror. Either a women's best friend, or worst enemy. Either way we look at our selves in it, every single day. Why though? Do you look in the mirror to get ready to go out? To look at how good you look? Or to look at how bad you think you look. Ladies, we all have a standard set for us by the world that we have to look a certain way, act a certain way, say this, don't say that, if you don't wear X designer you're a nobody. We all know it, and we all fall victim to it. Every. Single. One of us.

THIS is what "society" thinks we should look like, basically:
Slim, tanned, toned, flawless skin, nails always done, hair always where it should be, big, perky breasts. Basically, and unattainable image of beauty.
Take a close look at this lovely lady. Her skin is perfectly flawless, no pores, nothing. While some of you out there have beautiful skin like this naturally, for the rest of us, we have a few blemishes. This picture has been air brushed, and edited. And, in case you ladies reading this cannot tell, this lady's breasts are fake.Or appear to be to my eye. We all know natural ones, not matter how young and fit you are, aren't that perky.

Have any of you ladies ever look at celebrity before and after photos for magazines or other photos? Here are a few.

Jessica Alba

Madonna

Not too sure who this is, but you get the idea

Now ladies. Let me ask you this. WHY do we feel the need to cake on the make up, suck it in to fit into our "good butt jeans" and dress like we're in a rap video? Because society tells us to. The tell us we're too fat. They tell us that if you don't have flawless skin no one will like you. If you don't have the next big designer you're nothing.

Ladies I know we all get uncomfortable when a really pretty girl walks by. We all think "wow, she look amazing, why can't I look like her?" For all you know she could be thinking the same thing about you! I've had girls come to me on a "bad day" and say "I love your _____ !" I try to do the same if I see a girl who seems to be having an off day.

And for you ladies with men in their lives, I'm sure you've caught your man watching an adult film or two, and I'm sure you were hurt, and slightly offended. Those girls are gorgeous, right? Think of it like this though. Those girls/women get paid to do that, multiple times a day with multiple people. No real man in their right mind would want to have that as a relationship partner! They are with you because they love YOU. Everything about you. Your messy hair, you un-made up face, your sweat pants, how you snort when you laugh. Those women are all fake. Men are...visual creatures you have to remember this. They are going to look, and you're going to get mad. As long as he doesn't touch, everything is a-okay!

Like my fiance says, "If you looked ugly, I'd tell you." Which is his way of saying, you look amazing every time I see you, since he never says I look ugly! :)

We're all insecure, every one of us, for some reason or another. But you have no reason to be! Love you for who you are. Don't change for anyone but yourself. Confidence is the sexiest trait a women can have!

Repo! The Genetic Opera

This movie. In one word-AMAZING. I've never really been one for musicals, but this one takes the cake. It's not your average musical by any means. It is a rock opera. The cast includes Alex Vega (Spy Kids), Anthony Head (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Paris Hilton, and more. The story line is an interesting one:
In the year 2056 - the not so distant future - an epidemic of organ failures devastates the planet. Out of the tragedy, a savior emerges: GeneCo, a biotech company that offers organ transplants, for a price. Those who miss their payments are scheduled for repossession and hunted by villainous Repo Men. In a world where surgery addicts are hooked on painkilling drugs and murder is sanctioned by law, a sheltered young girl searches for the cure to her own rare disease as well as information about her family's mysterious history. After being sucked into the haunting world of GeneCo, she is unable to turn back, as all of her questions will be answered at the wildly anticipated spectacular event: The Genetic Opera.
Organ failure is becoming a huge problem, so GeneCo emerges from the chaos. You can have your organs, however, if you fail to make a payment (similar to a car), the repossession clause in this contract is a real...killer. Literally you get hunted down by the Repo Man, and your organ is repossessed.

The sound track and songs in the movie, fantastic. My personal favorites are "Zydrate Anatomy", "21st Century Cure", "Legal Assassin", "Mark it Up" and "At the Opera Tonight". Two other songs I like, but were cut are "Come up and Try my New Parts" and "Crucifixes". The entire sound track, however is amazing. The movie also hold the record for the most songs ever composed into one film, with 64 songs!

Here is the trailer. Only a taste of what, in my opinion is the best rock opera in a while.

I honestly didn't think that I would like it. It was on FiOS free movies, and looked kind of interesting, so I decided to watch it. And man am I glad I did! It got a lot of bad reviews, and not a lot of promotion, since Lionsgate had the SAW franchise. I feel like if it would have had more promotion from Lionsgate it would have been a huge hit. However, I kind of like that it has more of an underground or "cult" following. Since when someone says "I feel like I'm the only one who has ever seen this!" You can say "Hey! I've seen it!" It's honestly amazing how many people HAVE seen it, but you just don't know it.

Watch it. You will not be disappointed!
